Madeleine Albright came to CNET last week to speak about her newly released book, Memo to the President Elect, which advises the future president on how best to repair the US's reputation, in the post-Bush era. Although her advice is simple, stragetic and straight-forward, it hits the nail on the head, in terms of how the next presidency needs to diplomatically dig their way out of the deep, dark hole that the current administration has buried us in. More importantly, contrary to its title, the book's message is addressed to the US public, more than the future president, hoping to shine light on the jarring issues that the US currently faces, and the seemingly logical solutions, which appear to have been overlooked by America's population.
More than anything, Albright's visit made me realize how much I missed being in college, attending classes, reading poli sci readers, and attending all of the amazing lectures and performance that UCSB brought to its students.
